Creativity Born From Love — is Magical

The Elements of Magic

Earth, wind, air and fire are traditionally the four pieces of a puzzle, the sides of the room, the building blocks of alchemy. Yet when you put them together they create only a square, a two-dimensional space, they are missing that which gives them, and us, and the magic, form and fullness and a dimension of space. Of being in this physical reality.

But what is that fifth element? What is that which creates the roof and floor of the room giving it that form, creating that function, with which it then exists in a 3-D physical plane?

There is a movie of that name; “The Fifth Element” which claims to have the answer. It is not, of course, what it appears to be… it is not power, or a thing, or an alien, or a person. Ultimately, it is an emotion. It is love.

Love is the thing that takes the four elements and binds them together to create something which can then exist in three dimensions. It literally both creates and saves the world.

I like that idea.  And you know what this means? That ultimately it is Love which forms the basis for all creativity.

For that’s all that creativity is… it is creating something. And that something doesn’t have to be art, or music, or dancing, or decorating, gardening, flower arranging… heck, whatever it is we generally associate with “being creative.” It can be working with numbers as an excellent accountant or fixing pipes so they never leak again as a plumber.

As long as you are interested in it, and especially if you are loving it, then whatever it is you do can be and is creative. For by active involvement with it you bring it into being in this universe, and make it a part of the multi-dimensions.

Essentially, you become its creator.

So, in many ways, creativity, creating, being a creator aligns us with Love and causes us to come into contact with the original maker of the universe.

Creativity – and especially creativity born of love – is truly the most powerful part of the magical elements. Magic will not work without it.

But with it… look at what happens.

Magic everywhere.

The magic of a painter or photographer who captures the luscious colors of a sunset.

The magic of a poet or writer who captures emotions and ideas and places them somewhere for us to ponder.

The magic of a dancer or athlete who captures the subtle grace and glory of the human form.

The magic of a scientist or mathematician who captures concepts and theories and explains this 3-D space we are in through them.

The magic of a woman gardening in her front yard and creating a bounty of beauty for everyone who walks by to enjoy.

The magic of a man carving a piece of wood into a chair for someone to sit on.

The magic of a child building an entire world out of Legos or cars or just a bunch of sticks and dirt.

The magic of our modern conveniences – electricity, running water, toilets. We don’t think about these as they are so basic to the majority of us, so easy to obtain, so “there” for us whenever we want them. Well, except maybe for the toilets. Those are often nowhere near just when want it the most. But that’s another quantum discussion.

For now, we’re focused on how it is the element of creativity brought these things into being in our reality in the first place.

What made all of these possible was someone thinking; “I wonder what would happen if I could harness lightening?” Or; “Wouldn’t it be easier and so much nicer to have the water just come into the house without going to a well to get it?” Or; “Wouldn’t it be even better to have that water come in and flush out the waste as well?”

Until someone thought about it, and then decided to figure out how to do it, it simply did not exist. In essence, they created it, and so it was, and so it is, and now it’s in our daily lives bettering them. It may not have been what we traditionally think of as a “creative project” – but they had to be extremely creative to think of it, figure out how to bring it into being, and then do what it took to make it happen.

And therein lies another secret alchemical ingredient to magic: 

the doing of it.

All of the thinking about it in the world is nothing without the action. This is the essence of creativity: it is based in Love, but it is brought out by Action.

So if you really want magic in your life my friend, if you’d really like to experience it first-hand – then if you are not actively finding that which is your form of creativity, that which sparks your interest, that which ignites your joy, that which at the very least brings you a simple satisfaction, and then doing it… well, do it. Whatever it is, (as long as it is not harmful to you or other living beings) follow that old Nike advice and Just. Do. It.

Go play that golf game, go tune that old car, go cuddle your kittens and walk those dogs. Get out (or stay in if that’s what your particular form of creativity requires) and get going and do something, anything, so long as it appeals to you.

For by it you are participating in actively forming the universe.

You are bringing something that wasn’t into something that is. You are creating form and function into this 3-D reality.

You are making magic.
