Janiva Magness is a Grammy nominated singer/songwriter for the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, Song of the Year and Contemporary Female Artist of the Year, who is a multiple Blues Music Award winner and BMA nominee.
Her recent memoir “Weeds Like Us” was just published in June, 2018 and is being turned into a musical. As she states on her website, “Love Is an Army,” her 14th album released in 2018, “is a brilliantly crafted bridge between past and present, blending the echoes of classing soul and Americana music with timeless themes of love and the very contemporary sound of protest.” She continues; “What led the album was the lyrics, and the things that are happening right now – the division, the racism, the violence, and our leaders’ lack of concern about basic human issues like health care and poverty.”
We love that Janiva, with so many albums and songs recorded throughout her career, is not slowing down! She is such an inspiration. Her work really responds to and reflects all that is going on in the world.
For Janiva the title song is her rally cry, and she says; ” Now, in particular, it’s once again important for us all to do the right thing, and I’m willing to do that, regardless of the cost.” It is time to be a part of the Army of Love.
Thank you for highlighting this amazing artist! She is one of a kind with a voice (singing AND Politically thoughtful) like non-other!
